Dynamic and Intense – A Complete Workout
A Complete Workout
Both aerobic and muscular, Kung Fu is a complete exercise, using all parts of your body, moving in nearly every direction. Using a variety of fists, hand positions, you are striking and blocking close range and far, high and low; kicking front, side and back, spinning turning, leaping.
All beginners are welcome!
Benefits of Kung Fu
- Invigorating aerobic and muscular exercise
- Generates flexibility, focus and power
- Develops effective self defense skills
Kung Fu Beginners
Each Kung Fu class consists of an exciting mix of punches, kicks and blocks, stretches, forms and two-person exercises.
Beginners receive personal, precise instruction and are treated with utmost respect. Everyone is taught at their own level and proceeds at their own pace. With no prior experience, and perhaps not having exercised much lately, you will get all the help you need to get off to a good start.
When you attend your first Kung Fu class, wear, or bring, loose, comfortable clothes, such as work out pants and a tee shirt. No special shoes are required, as we work barefoot.
Kung Fu Training
Nabi Su Kung Fu develops physical, mental and spiritual strength. It is a strict discipline that teaches self-defense skills and encourages a peaceful soul. "Nabi" means Butterfly, and "Su" is often translated as strategy. The Nabi Su style incorporates the grace and unpredictability of the Butterfly into a cohesive Kung Fu system that expresses inwardly in self development and outwardly in self defense.
The Nabi Su Kung Fu style is not dependent on inherent strength. People of all ages, body types and initial fitness levels can succeed.
Kung Fu Forms
The Nabi Su form is the foundation of this martial art, developing posture and internal power. The next form is Flower, followed by the Shaolin Five Animals - Dragon, Crane, Snake, Tiger, Leopard - as well as Iron Palm. Wing Chun, Hung Gar, Praying Mantis and Choy Li Fut and other forms are taught after Black Belt. Nabi Su weapons training begins with Escrima Sticks, followed by Sai and Bo. Advanced students learn Swords, Spear, Butterfly Knives, Fan and Jodo, the art of wooden staff against Japanese swords.
Shadow Hands and Sticking Hands are two-person exercises. Sparring combines these techniques with moves from the Five Animal and other forms in freely expressive interplay.
